Suez Environnement forms joint venture in China for environment remediation services

French utility Suez Environnement has agreed to form a joint venture with three Chinese firms to provide environment remediation services in China.

The joint venture will be monitoring and evaluating environmental pollution across the country.

The firms will work together with remediation of groundwater, water sediments, contaminated soil and mining sites.

Suez Environnement will have a 20% stake in the joint venture while Chongqing Derun Environment will have a 30% share.
Chongqing YUFU Asset Operation & Management Group and Chongqing Environmental Science Research Institute will have a 25% stake each.

Suez Environnement Group CEO Jean Louis Chaussade said: " Suez Environnement has worked closely with Chongqing since 2002, on several public and private partnerships involved in water treatment and distribution.

"This new joint venture will enable Suez Environnement to broaden its presence in China in the environment remediation field, while offering its partners a high quality of service and comprehensive environmental protection services."

The French utility had been operating in China for more than 30 years. It serves the water and wastewater requirements in the country through its subsidiaries Sino-French Holdings and Sino French Water, Sita Waste Services and Degrémont.

Suez Environnement offers environment protection services related to drinking water, wastewater treatment and waste management, for multiple industries globally.
